Developer's Guide to Getting Started in UX Design
July 23, 2019
9:00AM – 5:00PM CT
Level: Introductory

With rising expectations among users, you can stand out by adding basic user experience skills to your talent stack. In this full day, lecture-based, virtual workshop, developer-turned-designer Billy Hollis will show you how to take the first steps.

You might think that, as a developer, you lack the talents for UX design. You don't. Billy has trained hundreds of developers in UX design. He has proven that typical development teams can design and develop interfaces that are more productive and effective for their users. You don't have to be a professional designer to understand common sense design principles and learn a lightweight process for design.

Packed with examples from real projects, showing good and bad designs, you'll learn in this workshop how to evaluate designs and pinpoint their design flaws. You'll also see how to integrate design into your overall development process, and iterate your way into better user experiences.

In this workshop, Billy will teach you:

  • About the two dozen most important design principles that apply to software interfaces
  • How to gain experience in assessing designs, by highlighting design flaws and the violated principles associated with each flaw
  • To become familiar with a short, light weight design process which can precede typical development processes
