SQL Server 2019 Big Data Clusters is one of the biggest releases since the birth of SQL Server. We will discuss how this product was built solving the issues customers constantly face. We will discuss in depth the concept of data virtualization and the benefit it provides over conventional ETL. We will also show the architecture on which SQL Server 2019 Big Data Clusters were built and the choice of the platform we used. We will also discuss how we are bringing SQL Server and Spark as the two compute engines over SQL and HDFS and how we built a unified data analytics platform with SQL Server ML Services and Spark ML and as we prepare to build for enterprise grade Machine Learning. We will also show how this entire product was built thinking about the user experience and how we optimized this experience in Azure Data Studio.
